Production Bios

David Novack: Director, Producer, Writer
David Novack, has been a producer, post supervisor, and associate producer for a number of documentary films and television series, including the historical documentary, “Songs of Odessa,” the acclaimed Showtime/United Nations series, “What's Going On” and two episodes of PBS/WGBH's “Frontline.” Mr. Novack has written for 4 Kids Entertainment and BNN/Camera Planet. In audio post, Mr. Novack has enjoyed a successful career as re-recording mixer/sound designer, recently adding a major new opera by Roger Waters to his credits. Mr. Novack received a Bachelors of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a degree in music from Berklee College of Music.

Richard Hankin: Editor, Writer
Richard Hankin is an award-winning documentary editor and filmmaker. Hankin has worked on documentaries for both theatrical distribution and for HBO, PBS, NBC, ABC, and Showtime. "Home Front," which Hankin directed, produced, wrote and edited, was described by The New York Times as “Indelible … reminiscent of ‘The Deer Hunter.'” “Capturing the Friedmans,” which Hankin co-produced and edited, won numerous awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and an Emmy. The film was nominated for both an Academy Award and an American Cinema Editor's Award.

Other films he has worked on include Mark Becker's “Romántico;” HBO's Peabody Award-winning “Cancer: Evolution to Revolution;” “Dance Cuba: Dreams of Flight;” “New York: A Documentary Film,” which received an Emmy nomination; and the acclaimed Ken Burns film “The West.”

Scott Shelley: Cinematography
Scott Shelley has been filming documentaries for 19 years. His film on the Nicaraguan conflict made while earning an MFA from CalArts lead to a series of Anti-Apartheid programs for the UN in the late 80's. He has since worked in over 60 countries and his work has shown on all major networks, both domestic and abroad. Mr. Shelley is most skilled at constructing a cogent and moving visual story under difficult circumstances. Recent works include the Travel Channel's “Presidential Tour of Ghana,” CBS's “Amazing Race,” and the 26-part “N.O.W.” series, shot in HD for Discovery.

Samuel Henriques: Cinematography
Sam Henriques shot The Farm, the Academy Award nominee about inmates at Angola State Penitentiary for which he won a Prime Time Emmy for Non-Fiction Cinematography. Highlights of his work include the widely-acclaimed Riding the Rails, a film about teenagers on the road during the 1930's which won a Peabody; Harlem Diary, a documentary about eight children in modern day Harlem; Rocks with Wings, the chronicle of the Lady Chieftains all girl basketball team at Shiprock reservation. Work for PBS includes Eyes on the Prize II, American Masters - Paul Simon, Cole Porter, Milos Forman, Edward R. Murrow, NOVA- C. Everett Koop & The Big Spill (Exxon Valdez). He has filmed for UNICEF on health issues such as polio in Ethiopia and AIDS in Botswana & South Africa. Much of his training was with Maysles Films. He graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

Raz Mesinai: Composer
Composer and multi instrumentalist Raz Mesinai was born in Jerusalem in 1973. Mesinai's electronic and electro-acoustic musicexists at the crossroads of composition, sound design and modern studioproduction. Raz was a featured artist in the "Next, Next Wave" festival oftheBrooklyn Academyof Music, and opened for Nubian master musician HamzaEl Din at Lincoln Center,a personal highlight.Raz has received commissions fromthe Lincoln Center Festivalin both 2000 and 2001,andin2004, following hisdeveloping interest in visual narrativeand storytelling in music,Mesinaiwas a Fellow at the Sundance Composer's Lab. Since then Mesinai has scored several feature length films including "Sorry, Hater's" (starring Robin Wright Penn), and "Romantico" (official selection - Sundance Fastival).This year Mesinai was commissioned to compose works for Ethel, Maya Beiser,VIA, and The Kronos Quartet.

Alexis Zoullas: Producer
Alexis Zoullas began working in the entertainment industry in 1998, at the law firm of Rudolf and Beer. After a year at the film company, The Shooting Gallery, Alexis became head of business development at Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York City for four years. While at Kaufman, Alexis founded Filter Partners, an LA and NY- based entertainment marketing and consulting firm. Recently, Alexis executive-produced the documentary, “William Eggleston in the Real World.” He is currently working on a film, “Beneath the Roses,” by Gregory Crewdson.

Donald Rosenfeld: Executive Producer
Donald Rosenfeld ran Merchant Ivory Productions where he produced “Mr. & Mrs. Bridge,” “Ballad of the Sad Café,” “Howard's End,” “Remains of the Day,” and “Surviving Picasso.” Additionally, Rosenfeld has produced “Catwalk,” starring Christy Turlington, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, and Chris Munch's “The Color of a Brisk and Leaping Day.” Recent productions include Ric Burns' “Andy Warhol,” Emma Thompson's “Victor,” “Tree of Life” directed by Terrence Malick, “The Confidence Man,” “City Poet,” “Eugene O'Neill,” “Los Angeles,” and “40 Shades of Blue” starring Rip Torn.

CJ Follini: Executive Producer
CJ Follini is the President of Ten Paces Media LLC. From 1997-2001, CJ served as the President of the digital media studios known as Gun For Hire, a division of Shooting Gallery Entertainment. Mr. Follini designed, developed and supervised the management of the studios' post-production services in New York, Miami, Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles.

In 2000, CJ produced the short film Bullet in the Brain, winner of ten festival awards including the first online Hypnotic/Universal Million Dollar Film. CJ also produced Someday, a music video for Irish pop band "Tellulah Crash,” and a PSA for the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation, an organization that helps children with life-threatening diseases and children in low-income school districts. Currently, CJ is adapting, directing and producing a short film from a William Saroyan one-act play titled, “Hello Out There” with Elisabeth Moss and Neal Huff leading. CJ earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University and a degree in Econometrics from the London School of Economics.
